Wakimoto

Wakimoto is a very classical and high prestige sushi restaurant. It is small room and only dinner time is open.

Basically, menu is Omakase, the chef serves seasonal and fresh cuisines depending occasion and it is always best timing. They also serves not only sushi but also Japanese traditional cuisines, Kappo.

Higaki

Higaki is an interesting sushi store. The chef here used to be as salesperson before, and opened Higaki to retire the job. It is a famous sushi store/restaurant for rolling sushi. Most customers buy the rolling sushi to take away, but you can eat in if you want.

They have many menu to take away, which are rolling sushi, box sushi, and Chirashizushi. The most popular of them are sushi made of Anago fish and shrimp.

Sushi Emiko

The owner chef of Emiko opened a Japanese restaurant in Sannomiya before founded Emiko.

His family also was a sushi chef, and when he opened Emiko, he begun to improve inherited skills from his family breaking the tradition to use akazu and salt for sushi rice.

The most recommend is tuna, especially the taste of toro is amazing.

Okabayashi

Sushi Okabayashi opened in 1981. It provides us fine, fresh sushi and the ambience of the entrance here makes us feel this is a high end restaurant.

The most recommendable menu is called Okamaki which is makizushi of Unagi rolled with nori. The location is best if you want to find a fancy sushi restaurant in central Kobe, there is not only counter seats but also a private room.

Satsumanzushi

Satsuma-zushi is one of the most long established sushi restaurants in Kobe area. The outside of the restaurant looks traditional Japanese ambience and if you go here at first time, you may get nervous.

Do not worry, the master and his wife run the restaurant and they are very friendly, and serve Omakase course. You can enjoy the meal here with Japanese sake too.

Yamazaki

You can enjoy Edomae traditional sushi here. There are two recommendable Omakase courses emphasize on Japanese snacks like steamed awabi, and other nigiri sushi.

Most of the seafood served here are from Amakusa in Kumamoto, Kada area in Wakayama, and in Akashi city. The nigiri sushi rice here is seasoned with akazu and salt.

Josuke

The owner chef here handles and serves only the fresh and finest fish. He uses his own akazu based recipe to make sushi rice, it goes very well with read raw fish like tuna.

You can enjoy snacks firstly, then nigiri sushi later. It makes you impressed to eat them. The restaurant accepts reservation only and closes when ingredients served here run out.

Kissui

Kissui is the one of the most high-end sushi restaurant in Kobe. It is recognized as a Michelin 2 stars restaurant. It makes sushi rice with akazu and salt, called Edomae style.

You can enjoy sushi here with 10,000 to 15,000 yen per a person. If you dine almost same quality of sushi in Tokyo, you cannot enjoy the same experience, so you must not miss Kissui if you go to Kobe to dine sushi.
